About Us
Carleton Archery is a beginner-friendly archery club that provides members of the Carleton student community and wider community in Ottawa, including students from other universities and colleges, with the opportunity to safely practice archery on Carleton University’s campus. We pride ourselves in providing a social, student-friendly atmosphere where members can work on both learning and improving their archery skills.
Currently, we offer a 12-meter range with four lanes and a selection of equipment for members to borrow during our shoots. We have staff members available to provide introductory archery instructions, we currently offer beginner archery lessons, registration is open now! As a recreational club however, and do not offer instruction or facilities suitable for competitive training and during drop-in sessions we do not provide comprehensive lessons, but we will help you get started. If you are interested in higher level archery lessons or facilities better suited to competitive training, we recommend exploring other venues in Ottawa, such as the RA Centre.
Our club operates under a unique structure where operations are shared between two organizations, Carleton University Archery Club (CUAC) and Carleton Archery Club, Inc. (CAC, Inc.). When you join Carleton Archery, you join both the CUAC and CAC, Inc.
CUAC was originally founded in 2013 and is a student club registered through CUSA that is responsible for scheduling, communications, marketing and promotion, event organization, and securing space for club events. As a student organization, CUAC is led by current Carleton students.
CAC, Inc., is a not-for-profit that was established in 2023 to work with the CUSA side of the club, maintain institutional knowledge, and help provide long-term support for the relatively short terms of CUSA club executives. To that end, CAC, Inc. owns and operates all of the club’s equipment and is responsible for running the range with its qualified officials. Going forward, we also plan for CAC, Inc., to grow and maintain a roster of certified range safety officers, judges and coaches, meaning that we will be able to expand our services and offerings to such things as sanctioned tournaments and introductory archery lessons. CAC, Inc., is a member of our sport's governing bodies both at the national and provincial levels- Archery Canada and Archery Ontario (club #ON692).
If you would like to learn more about us and how we operate, we encourage you to read our FAQ and range rules and visit the CUAC and CAC, Inc. links below, and subscribe to our newsletter (latest here). If you would like to experience archery firsthand through Carleton Archery, we welcome you to drop by during our posted shoot times. Please fill out the waiver before your visit.
