At the Carleton Archery Club, we are committed to fostering an environment that values and embraces equity, diversity, and inclusion. We believe that every individual has the right to participate fully and authentically, regardless of their background, identity, or abilities. We strive to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive space for all members and participants of our club.
We recognize that diversity encompasses a range of dimensions, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, religion, disability, and nationality. We acknowledge that these aspects contribute to the unique perspectives and experiences that each person brings to our club.
Our commitment to equity and inclusion is reflected in the following principles:
Respect and Dignity: We treat every individual with respect, dignity, and fairness, valuing their inherent worth and uniqueness. We promote a culture of kindness, empathy, and open-mindedness, where everyone feels safe to express themselves and contribute their ideas.
Accessibility and Accommodation: We strive to ensure that our club is accessible and inclusive for individuals with diverse abilities. We work towards removing barriers and providing necessary accommodations to enable full participation in our activities, events, and facilities. Please see our Accessibility Policy for more information.
Anti-Discrimination: We condemn any form of discrimination, harassment, or prejudice. We are committed to challenging and addressing systemic and individual biases that may exist within our club. We actively promote an environment free from discrimination based on any protected characteristics. Please see our anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policy for more information.
Education and Awareness: We promote education and awareness surrounding equity, diversity, and inclusion topics within our club and the broader community. We encourage open dialogue, learning opportunities, and the sharing of experiences to foster understanding, empathy, and growth.
Inclusive Participation: We strive to ensure that everyone has equal opportunities to engage in archery and related activities. We actively work to remove barriers, promote diversity in leadership roles, and involve underrepresented groups in decision-making processes.
Continuous Improvement: We recognize that achieving equity and inclusion is an ongoing journey. We commit to regularly assessing our practices, policies, and programs to identify areas for improvement and to actively implement changes that promote equity and inclusion.
By upholding these principles, we aim to cultivate a vibrant and diverse archery community at Carleton University and beyond. We encourage all members to embrace these values and actively contribute to the creation of an equitable and inclusive space for all.
Adopted by the Carleton University Archery Club on 9 July 2023 and the Board of Directors of Carleton Archery Club, Inc., on 20 January 2024.
