Damage Policy
Participants are required to pay for damage to equipment that they directly cause due to negligence or failure to follow staff direction to ensure that replacements can be made available for other members. A violation of any rules can result in disciplinary actions that can range from verbal warnings to termination of club membership.
Generally, the club does not require those trying archery for the first time to pay for arrow damage, and we won't charge this fee to those who just happen to miss. Though anyone causing excessive damage, or falling to follow direction leading to damage may be asked to pay for replacements. The club does take steps to reduce the risk of broken arrows including the use of a backstop net.
Current arrow damage fee: $6-$8/arrow
Range Control
We use a electronic range control system (archeryclock.com) that integrates both audio and visual confirmations to ensure that all participates are able to check the state of the range at all times. You may recognize the system as the one used at many tournaments. However, we have configured the system to allow for longer ends.
The range control screen will be green when shooting is permitted and the range is hot, yellow when shooting is about to end (for the last 20 seconds) and red when the range is cold and shooting is prohibited. When the range is hot, the time remaining in the end will also be shown on screen.
Only the range safety officer or their designate (usually another member of staff) may operate the range control equipment or call "range is hot".
Any participant may yell STOP STOP STOP at any time if they become aware of an emergency on the shooting line. The range officer will put the range control system into an emergency mode and stop all shooting and assess the situation.
Red: do not shoot, you may retrieve arrows
The system will beep 3 times when shooting is to stop
Yellow: limited time remaining (20 seconds)
Those on the shooting line may finish their end, no new shooters may go to the line
Green: range is clear, you may shoot
The system will beep twice when shooting may commence
Stop: emergency stop, system will beep 5 times for an emergency stop
